Data Transformation Programme

B2E supported a UK pensions and savings provider in delivering a Data Transformation Programme, establishing data products and requirements for enhanced data management.

Background

A UK pensions and savings provider sought to improve their data management processes to better leverage data for decision-making. The organisation needed a comprehensive strategy to define data products and establish accountability for data ownership.

The Challenge

The client faced challenges with unclear data ownership and inconsistent data product definitions, leading to inefficiencies in data management. There was a requirement for a structured approach to document data products, roles, and remediation areas to enhance the overall data governance framework.

Our Approach

B2E led discussions with business areas to agree on a set of data products and owners. The team documented the Terms of Reference for each data product to ensure a common understanding of the programme requirements. B2E supported the initial scope and requirements sign-off for each data product, collaborating with data analysts and business users to identify necessary data elements and remediation needs. Additionally, the team assisted in mapping data from source systems to data products, identifying dependencies and documenting the IT Operating Model.

Results

The project clarified data ownership and established defined data products, facilitating better data governance. Processes for mapping data and documenting management information were improved, enabling the client to leverage Power BI for enhanced insights and reporting capabilities.
