Do you have experience of providing procurement and category management, on complex R&D supplier portfolios, within a regulated organisation?
This consulting opportunity is to support our client, a global pharmaceuticals organisation, in managing specialist R&D procurement categories across a fragmented supplier landscape. The focus is on supporting commercial outcomes, supplier negotiations and effective category management across complex R&D services.
The project needs a consultant who has:
- experience managing procurement activities across R&D categories (ideally within the pharmaceuticals industry)
- understanding of supplier management and commercial negotiations within regulated environments
- ability to interpret supplier performance and commercial data to support decision making
- credibility engaging with internal stakeholders and external suppliers across a complex supplier landscape
Key Services
The key services that you will be asked to provide are:
- to manage procurement activities across R&D categories and supplier portfolios
- lead commercial discussions and negotiations with suppliers
- review commercial terms and supplier agreements in line with organisational requirements
- analyse supplier performance and commercial information to support category decisions
- maintain supplier records and procurement documentation
- prepare commercial recommendations and supplier evaluation summaries
- provide regular reporting on procurement activity, supplier performance and commercial outcomes
Mandatory Requirements
Successful consultants will be able to demonstrate:
- experience managing procurement or category management activities across R&D categories – preferably within the pharmaceuticals industry
- experience managing supplier relationships and commercial negotiations
- experience managing complex supplier portfolios within regulated environments
- strong commercial awareness and negotiation capability
- strong stakeholder management and communication skills
Optional Requirements
It will also be advantageous if you have:
- experience managing Functional Service Providers (FSPs) within an R&D environment
- experience within the pharmaceutical or life sciences sector
- professional procurement qualification such as CIPS or equivalent commercial experience
Working Pattern: hybrid – one day per week in Cambridge
